How does it work?
Once you’ve signed up, your game will commence the following Tuesday. You will exchange emails, receive post and undertake research online to close in on the dark truth behind a tragic murder.
How long does it take?
This is partly down to you – the game can be played at your own pace and in your own time. The fastest anyone has finished has been in 3 weeks, but for most people it will be more like 4 or 5 weeks.
Are there any hidden costs?
No, the sign up fee is a one-off payment and there will be no other costs to the game after this.
Can I play it in a team?
You can play the game with whomever you see fit – however, we would recommend that the best experience would be with just one or two people
Can I buy the game as a gift for someone?
Of course, whatever details you enter on sign up will be the details used in the game. It’s probably worth telling the person that they’ll be playing though, so that they don’t end up ignoring the first emails!
Can I play the game with someone under 18?
You have to be an adult of 18+ to sign up for The Rising Water, but who you choose to play it with is entirely at your discretion.
Is this anything like ‘Hunt a Killer’ or ‘The Mysterious Package Company’?
We are aware of both of these companies and fully appreciate what they do. Inevitably there are some similarities, as all of these are mysteries that arrive in the post. However, we have designed The Rising Water to stand apart from both, due to its much higher level of interactivity, communication and linear narrative. It is also significantly cheaper than both of these experiences – whilst they are high quality, we still feel they are both far too expensive for what they actually provide.
I signed up this week, and I haven’t received anything yet. What should I do?
Nothing yet! Games begin every Tuesday, so nothing will happen until the Tuesday after you sign up. If it’s reached Tuesday evening and you still haven’t received any emails, then check your junk mail. If after that you’re still none-the-wiser then get in touch and we’ll try and figure out what’s gone wrong!
